Thanksgiving – 5 Jan 2019

  1. Dearest Mother Mary,

This thanksgiving letter should have come earlier. In May this year, my mother, a non-Catholic was diagnosed with spinal cord compression on the neck and within a short period of 2 to 3 weeks, she gradually lost her ability to feed herself and to walk. We had to make a quick decision to let her undergo a major operation. It was a very high risk operation and we prayed to you for help and guidance. She had a successful operation and is recovering. Considering she is already 74 years old and now she is able to go for slow walks and take care of her own daily activities. This would not be possible without your prayers and intercession. And now my mother is more open whenever I mention anything about you and the Church. In fact about 1 to 2 months ago, she handed a small love offering to me to be placed in Novena Church, I was very happy and felt so comforted. Please continue to guide my mother and bless her.

  1. Dearest Mother of Perpetual Help,

Thank you for your prayers for me and my family. I always turned to you when I argued with my husband. At the beginning of our marriage, I found it hard to recover from bad arguments and I always kept the pain in my heart. Since my baptism in 2005, I have slowly found peace through prayers. I have learnt to let go and see things from a different angle. I also learnt to remember the good things and try to forget quickly the unhappy incidents. My husband has also tried to control his temper and gradually we have found more peace and joy at home. Our 11 year old son suggested to pray the rosary 2 years ago and since then we have been praying every night as a family. I am really grateful for everything and everyone around us. Thank you, dearest Mother, for taking care of us.

Your Loving Daughter.

  1. Dear Mother Mary,

Thank you for your powerful intercession for all my prayers for my family. Words cannot express how grateful I am for your love and comfort to me and my family. You are always there for me listening to all our prayers and asking the Lord to grant them. Mother, a big thank you to you for your love for me and my family all these years.

  1. Dearest Mother,

Thank you for all the favours and prayers for the year 2018. Thank you for the love and peace in my life and I am grateful to you for your powerful intercession for me when I had some medical issues in December.

Your Daughter.

  1. Dearest Mother of Perpetual Help,

I have been feeling a great weight of sadness and heart-break over my children who do not love you, your Son, Jesus, and the Church. It’s been so painful to see them stop coming to Church for Mass and not doing anything to grow in their faith. Within a few days of praying to you for help and returning to the Novena Devotion, that great weight and sadness has been lifted and I am more at peace now. Thank you, Mother, for being with me and praying for me. I trust that your Son, Jesus, will not abandon my children even if they reject him. Although it remains difficult, I have begun to feel a greater trust in your Son that He will enter their lives to bring them back to the Church. Thank you, Mother, for the peace of mind and the confidence in you that enables me to let go and trust in God.

Your Peaceful Child.

  1. Dearest Mother of Perpetual Help,

2018 has been a fantastic year for me and my family. My husband celebrated his 70th Birthday and I, my 60th Birthday. We also celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary and finally we had a beautiful Christmas reaching out to some of our friends who are in need. Mother, I know that all these were possible because of your love and prayers to your Son for us. Thank you for all your prayers and the abundant blessings for 2018.

Your Loving Daughter.

  1. Dearest Mother Mary,

Earlier this month, I received a payout for completing 25 years in the education service. I spent half of these years in schools and another half at the headquarters. Education in Singapore is demanding and every week I would come to the Novena thanking you for taking care of me throughout the week and to pray for the following week. There have been many ups and downs and I recall the times when I had to make my way to your shrine at night, after a long day at work to seek your intercession. Thank you for your prayers during the past 25 years.

  1. Dearest Mother of Perpetual Help,

This is my first ever meaningful Christmas in my whole life since I was born into a Catholic family 57 years ago. I was baptized and sent to catechism class when I was young and attended Masses without knowing the true meaning of the Mass. It was just an obligation as a Catholic. I was a very lost sheep growing up. I stopped going to Mass completely and did things that were very sinful. I was re-born again this year in May after attending a retreat. After the retreat, I have come to realize that when challenges come, I felt lost again. My past sins kept haunting me and there was no path and direction. My heart was like a big piece of rock. Then my sister asked me to attend the Mass at Novena Church. I came and from that day onwards up till now, it has been amazing! God’s word comes to me through the gospel and homily. Now I feel at peace and closer to Jesus. I have learnt to be grateful and thankful for all the blessings I have received. Thank you, Mother Mary, for answering my prayers and intercession.

Your Grateful and Loving Daughter.

  1. Dearest Mother of Perpetual Help,

Words cannot describe the thankfulness that my family have received from your intercession. Last year, I brought my daughter to your shrine as she was scheduled for an operation. During the novena, the priest preached about the need to trust in the doctor if there is a medical condition. We were undecided about the operation and eventually we pulled her out at the last minute. Throughout this year, we prayed fervently and asked for directions. In the end, we decided to let go through the operation at the end of the year. It was an agonizing period preparing for the operation. We constantly prayed to you for your intercession for her. Miraculously, she had a quick recovery and was not in pain as what we had imagined. We know this would not be possible without your prayers.

  1. Dearest Mother,

I cannot thank you enough for praying for me throughout this whole year. When the new school term started in July, things were not the same as before as I started to use more bad words and I was always on social media and not studying as hard as the last time. However, while I was serving Mass as a warden in my Church, I prayed that you will stop all sort of bad words coming from my mouth and to stop using as much social media and to study harder. When my results were released last week, I was overjoyed to see that I passed everything. I did not expect to do so well. Thank you for answering my prayers and giving me a second chance to do well in my exams.
