Thanksgiving – 9 November 2024

1. My dearest Mother,

Thank you for your love all these years. I wrote a petition in August asking you to intercede for my daughter who is suffering from mental illness and living by herself in Melbourne. I was very helpless, and came to your shrine and cried to give me the strength to handle the situation as she was suicidal. Mother, today she is slowly recovering through your intercession, and has agreed to go for therapy and medication. She has been positive and is able to work again. Mother, continue to guide and be with her.

Your Loving Daughter.

2. Dearest Mother of Perpetual Succour,

I thank you from the bottom of my heart. One month ago, my son texted to suggest we meet on Saturday at the Church of St Alphonsus for the Novena devotion. I was pleasantly surprised & felt so happy. I think his last attendance at a Novena devotion was when he was a school boy. It is through your intercession that he wanted to attend the Novena devotion. I am ever grateful to be able to come to your shrine physically every Saturday now, rather than following the devotion online. Thank you, Mother.

Your Loving Child.

3. Dearest Mother of Perpetual Help,

I came to you in August to seek your intercession for my son, who was enlisted in NS but not posted to the right platoon. He finally got posted after 2 months of being in limbo, doing nothing but just watching the other NS men go through their training. Thank you for looking after him, keeping him mentally strong and for making the change happen. Thank you, Mother, for looking after him.

Your Grateful Catholic Daughter.

4. Dearest Mother of Perpetual Help,

I was diagnosed with Grade A uterine cancer and went through a radical abdominal hysterectomy. I prayed frequently for your intercession to God to help me and my husband go through this journey. One of my greatest fears concerned my first review with the oncologist in Sept to find out what the next steps would be for me after the surgery. On that day, just before the appointment, my husband told me, “It’s OK whether it’s good news or bad news. Trust in God.” At that moment, a heavy burden was lifted off my shoulders and I was able to walk into the hospital with a lighter heart as I decided to surrender it all to God. I was so relieved and grateful to hear my oncologist say that I did not need to undergo chemotherapy or radiation therapy, but instead follow up with quarterly reviews with him. I have since been on a smooth recovery path. I am grateful to God for this turning point in my life, as it has led me to re-prioritize my life’s journey. I have left my job to take a temporary break and have decided to use the time to do more of God’s work, spend quality time with my husband and family, and allow myself to recover. I felt fear many times in the hospital, and each time when I prayed the rosary, I felt calmness, courage and perseverance. I know you were with me and my husband all the time, and Jesus was healing us all the way. Thank you, Mother Mary, for your intercession. I am full of gratitude and I feel humbled by your love for us.

Your Grateful Daughter.

5. Dear Mother Mary,

Thank you for watching over us and guiding us on the right path to your Son Jesus, with patience and love. I am very grateful for all that I have today, and to have this chance to come here to Singapore and to pray together, it is a true blessing. Thanks be to God and also thanks to you our dearest Mother.

Your Catholic Daughter.

6. Dearest Mother Mary,

I thank you from the bottom of my heart for guiding me through my end of year examination. Your constant help and support allowed me to enter secondary 4 next year. Thank you, for your unwavering support.

Your Grateful Son.

7. Dear Mary,

Thanks for your protection over my 1st post-PSLE trip with my son. We had such a wonderful bonding time and I got to see a different side of him. It was heartening to see him more mature – he helped me with the luggage and was the best travel companion I could have asked for. I am thankful for the lovely memories, and am most grateful from the bottom of my heart.  Your Child.

8. Dear Mother Mary,

I thank you for being with me through my difficult marriage journey. We have not yet reconciled but I want to thank you in advance, because I believe you have interceded for us just like you interceded for the couple at Cana, and I believe God’s will for us is to reconcile, for what God has united, no one can separate.
