Thanksgiving – 7 Sep 2019

  1. Dearest Mother Mary,

As we approach another Novena Procession, I write to thank you for being with me for the past 35 years. I started attending the Novena regularly from the time I was 16. Since then, there have been many ups and downs but I am grateful that every Saturday as I attend the devotion, I am able to reflect on the past week and to pray for the following week. I live within walking distance of the Church, so I hardly ever miss a Saturday Novena unless I am overseas. Thank you for the blessings through the years.

Your Loving Non-Catholic Child.

  1. Dearest Mother,

9 weeks ago, I was feeling lost and I don’t know what prompted me that Saturday morning to write a petition to you. I left my job 2 years ago and I thought I had my life all planned out but somehow, I lost my way and could find no meaning in life. I was a lost soul. I came to Novena that day as usual and wrote to you to help me find a job that would pay me well enough to be comfortable and financially independent again. 3 weeks after I sent out my resume, I got a call. After 2 rounds of interviews I was offered the job. Today, I am a month into the job and while I face many challenges in a new role that I have never done before, the opportunities given to me, are beyond what I had imagined. I cannot thank you enough for always being there for me and telling me to wait and be patient for the best moment in my life to happen. Thank you, Mother Mary, from the bottom of my heart.

Your Loving Daughter.

  1. Dear Mother Mary,

A few months back I sought your help to pray for the healing for my then 7 month-old daughter who was exposed to potential tuberculosis infection. She was only a few days old when we brought her home and subsequently found out that our domestic helper from Myanmar was coughing badly. She was later diagnosed with TB. My wife and father were also infected by the helper. The doctor advised us to put my daughter on preventive medication, a type of potent antibiotics but it could affect her liver. We had no other choice but to start the daily medication for 6 months. The doctor monitored her liver function every month but unfortunately her little liver was slowly damaged until we had to wean her off the medication. I felt helpless and often cried to God and to you, dearest Mother for help. On the one hand, this medication was her only hope but on the other hand, it damaged her liver and she is just a baby. But I know with God, all things are possible. My prayers were answered. She was cleared from TB and her liver is recovering. My family members have also subsequently recovered. This was the most difficult 6 months for us as first-time parents. I am very grateful to God for His kindness and mercy. I am very thankful to you dearest Mother for all your intercession and comfort.

Your Catholic Son.

  1. Dearest Mother,

Thank you very much for your intercession that after 40 days of being warded in hospital, my 18 year-old child has been discharged and is gaining back strength and recovering. As lupus is a chronic condition, I continue to pray for your grace to watch over and protect my child. God really works in mysterious ways. The diagnosis happened at the right time just before my child was getting ready to go overseas alone for university. Now the plan has changed and he has been accepted to continue his tertiary education in Singapore. It would have been scary if the sickness started and persisted while he was alone in a foreign land. Likewise, the experience has brought our family closer to each other, closer to God and focused on what really matters.

Your Loving Child.

  1. Dearest Mother of Perpetual Help,

I wish to thank you for your intercession to our Lord Jesus, who understands what I am going through and the challenges in my life, my struggles and my career. I trust you deep in my heart with strength, confidence and faith. I cannot stop giving you thanks for blessing me and guiding me in my life.

Your Faithful Daughter.

  1. Dearest Mother of Perpetual Help,

Recently I took my Primary 6 Preliminary Examination. I was happy to find out that despite being a non-Chinese, I got an A for it. It is all thanks to your support that I got the results. Thank you for always being there for me.

Your Catholic Son.

  1. Dearest Mother,

Thank you for interceding for me when work is tough and at times overwhelms me, you never fail to bring colleagues to my aid. I feel your love, care and support through them. I thank God for giving me this confidence in you.

Your Daughter.

  1. Dearest Mother of Perpetual Help,

I came to you on 12th June as my sister went missing then and she was not mentally well. My siblings were searching frantically for her worried that she would do harm to herself. I am relieved and glad to tell you that she has been found and is under the care of doctors in a treatment centre. Thank you Mother, for answering my prayers. I have been coming to your Shrine since 2002 and all my petitions were answered. Thank you once again from the bottom of my heart.

Your Child in Christ.

  1. Dearest Mother Mary,

I established a very close relationship with you through the Legion of Mary during my Secondary years and started to come to your Shrine about 40 years ago. I have turned to you many times whenever I needed help. I would like to express my sincere thanks to you for a wonderful family with three children. My second son was admitted to the hospital due to high fever and had seizures five times before the age of six. Since then, we have been feeling uncertain and anxious as we were unsure of the consequences of the seizures on his brain. In our desperation, we offered him up to you and asked you to watch over and protect him. Thank you for your intercession, he has grown up to be a God loving young man and has graduated few years ago. You have also blessed him with a lovely Catholic wife who has given birth to a son in August this year. Thank you, dear Mother, for watching over all of us.

  1. Dearest Mother Mary,

On August 26, I celebrated my 30th wedding anniversary. I am blessed with a loving husband and 2 wonderful children. 32 years ago, my aunty matchmade me with my husband. Before meeting him, I came to you to ask for your guidance and as I was leaving I saw him asking for your guidance. That was when we knew that we were made for each other. Thank you, Mother, for guiding us all these years.

Your Loving Daughter.
