Thanksgiving – 6 April 2024

1. Dear Mother Mary,

This is not my first petition or thanksgiving letter to you, Mother. Nevertheless, my gratitude, love and devotion to you and your Son will never cease. My late father was sweeping the church grounds when he was a very young man and was converted to the faith. Together with my mother, they brought us, children, to daily morning Mass, rosary prayer devotions and weekly Novenas. We, the children, used to drag our feet and resented it. But I thank God every day that they did not give up and instilled in us, a faith that we all grew to love and embrace. They inspired us to serve in several ministries in the church. Mother dearest, you protected my late father from a fatal scooter accident when he first got married to my mother. My father held on to his rosary when he was rescued from the accident scene. My mother who passed on recently was always reciting the rosary. She died in your presence at the table during her birthday celebration. Because of that celebration, it had stirred up a desire in our niece-in-law, to enrol in RCIA. Once, my father had only $21 left in his bank account and he had a father, a wife and 4 children to provide for…. Yet not once, did we ever feel hungry or ever lacked in anything! Thank you so much for watching over them everyday of their lives. And I thank God for them every day.

Throughout our lives, we have experienced many wonderful miracles, and we are deeply aware how awesome our loving God is and that your loving care and intercession have been with us along the way. We have learned to commit our trials and challenges humbly to Jesus as our crosses seem so small compared to what He has done for us. And I am constantly reminded of that every time I attend Mass.

Your Devoted Daughter.

    2. Dearest Mother,

You have never failed to intercede for me to our Lord. It’s long overdue for this thanksgiving letter to you. With your intercession, my work pass has been renewed and approved. 17 years and counting, living and working here in Singapore with your intercession and by the grace of our Lord. Thank you, Mama Mary.

    Your Loving Daughter.

    3. Dear Mother of Perpetual Help,

I want to thank you for leading and guiding my 27 year-old son who has special needs to complete his 8 days training as an F&B Assistant. He got his certificate today. Thank you, Mother Mary & Jesus.

    Your Grateful Daughter.

    4. Dearest Mother Mary,

I have a serious heart condition. I went for a heart scan last week and I prayed to you for a good result of the scan. Indeed, the result is good and it is better than I had expected. It is a miracle. Thank you, Mother.

    Your Grateful Son.

    5. Dearest Mother,

Thank you for interceding with my petition offered. I asked for help to find a new house to buy that was within my budget. My request has been granted in less than a month and I am very grateful to you and your Son, Jesus for that.

    Your Beloved Child.

    6. Dear Mother,

Thank you for saving me from falling prey to a scam. I think it was “divine providence” and perhaps with your help that I suddenly realised the ruse. I was so angry, but after blocking all my bank accounts and online access, I have gradually re-instated them. I’ve learnt a valuable lesson and I pray for your continued guidance and protection not to be so gullible in future.

    Your Grateful Daughter.

    7. Dear Mother of Perpetual Help,

Thank you for your prayers to your Son in helping me to deal with my addiction to alcohol. Keep me strong and sober.

    Your Loving Son.

    8. Dear Mother of Perpetual Help,

Thank you that my major surgery went smoothly. I knew that you were with me, guiding and protecting me all along the way.

    Your Daughter.

    9. Dearest Mother,

Thank you for always blessing us and helping me and my family in our needs, especially with our struggles financially. Thank you for surrounding us with kind family and friends who are always ready to help us, thank you for not giving up on me especially on the days when I wanted to give up. Thank you for showing me strength and guiding my family to overcome the challenges we faced. I truly believe that we will, one day be able to pay back those who have helped us. Thank you so much for everything.

    10. Dearest Mother,

My son turns 13 months old today. Thank you for always praying for him. He is healthy and happy. Continue to intercede for him that he will grow to be a faithful and humble servant of God. Help me and my wife to be good parents and to be obedient to God’s will in raising him.

    Your Loving Son.

    11. Dear Mother Mary,

I want to thank you for so much for you have interceded for me to our Lord. I am blessed in life. A wonderful wife, 2 beautiful and kind boys, a good job and so much more. And I want to give you my sincere gratitude and I know all these are given to me by your Son through you and I really appreciate everything. Help me to do more good to help my less fortunate brothers and sisters around me. And also, to continue to give thanks and gratitude every week at your shrine.

    Your Thankful Son.

    12. Dear Mother of Perpetual Help,

This is my very 1st thanksgiving letter after 50 years as a Catholic. I have been praying for your help to get a job for the past 2 months. Last week, I told myself to visit Novena to pray and ask you for help. The miracle is that I had a call from an expected source and in principle secured a job. I am speechless and thankful for your help and I will continue my prayers at the Novena and pray to you and also give thanks.

    Your Catholic Son.

    13. Dearest Mother Mary,

Thank you for answering our prayers for a safe and enjoyable trip to South Korea. We had almost perfect weather and everything went better than planned. We cannot thank you enough for always watching over us and keeping us safe.

    Your Catholic Daughter.

    14. Dearest Mother of Perpetual Help,

We want to thank you and your Son, Jesus, for being with our grandson during his operation to remove a tumour. The operation was a success. It was a major operation and we know it was possible because of your Motherly intercession.

    Your Loving Children.

    15. Dearest Mother,

We come before you with hearts full of gratitude. Today, we wish to offer our heartfelt thanks for the blessings bestowed upon our beloved daughter who celebrated her 8th birthday. Our hearts are filled with joy as we reflect on the journey that she has embarked on under your watchful eyes and the loving care of Almighty God. We see in her the unfolding of divine grace, a testament to the boundless love with which our Creator blesses each of us. We offer our thanks for the gift of her life, a precious child entrusted to us by the Lord. With each day, she brings into our lives the innocence and wonder that remind us of the pure love of Jesus. Her laughter and her spirit are beacons of light, guiding us to live with more love, patience and understanding. We are grateful, dear Mother, for your intercession and the protection you have extended to our daughter from the moment of her birth. Through your prayers, she has grown in health, wisdom and grace. We see in her the joy and peace that come from knowing Jesus and we are reminded of the blessings that flow from a life lived in faith. As we celebrate this milestone in her life, we also offer our thanks for the support and love we have received from our family, friends and community. Their presence in our lives enriches us beyond measure and mirrors the fellowship and compassion that Jesus teaches.

    Your Faithful Child.

    16. Dear Mother,

I cannot describe to you my deep gratitude for the favourable cancer blood test and biopsy results in the past week. Though I have been sick and unable to fully appreciate these recent events, I know that my heart is deeply grateful for your intercession and answered prayers. Thank you for your continued prayers that have been my source of hope amidst difficult times.

    Your Grateful Daughter.
