Thanksgiving – 5 April 2025

1. Dear Mother of Perpetual Help,

I want to thank you and Jesus for everything in the past week. Simple things which I cherish like a good day at work, having dinner with my family, and being able to keep my good job and simply being able to wake up every morning with my loved one by my side for which i am so grateful. I look forward to the weekend as i start my Saturday mornings with the novena devotion to you. Thank you, Mother for so much.

2. Dear Mother of Perpetual Help,

I am 76 years old and had a mild stroke in February and was hospitalised for 5 days. The right side of my body was affected, and I was not able to hold a spoon nor write! I prayed to you to intercede, to help me to regain my bodily strength! It has been one month since, and I have recovered almost 80%. I must thank you Our Lady for the miraculous cure! I will continue to pray to you and Jesus Christ, to bring me back to my normal self again. Once again, I thank you very much.

Your grateful Son

3. Dear Mother,

I thank God for enabling my brother to have a wonderful gathering with family and friends to commemorate his 80th birthday yesterday. He has had a good life and although in recent years both he and his wife have undergone health challenges, he has remained positive. I pray that God will continue to bless him and everyone who is special to him, especially his immediate and extended family members and his friends who have become like family.

4. Dearest Mother,

I have come to your shrine every week to seek your intercession to pray for my 2 years old grandson who was still unable to speak at his age. We are delighted that he can speak now and he is so adorable. Thank you, Mother, for the answered prayer.

5. Dearest Mother of Perpetual Help,

I write to you with a heart overflowing with gratitude, tears and joy. Just three weeks ago, my husband lost his job, leaving us feeling lost and uncertain about our future, especially with a new-born baby. In desperation, we turned to you, praying for your intercession and guidance. Today, we received an unexpected call from his former workplace, offering him an even better position. We are still in awe, grateful for your powerful intercession.  Your love and care have been a constant source of strength in our lives. We also thank God for blessing us with a child after eight long years of waiting, and for guiding us through life’s challenges. We promise to continue sharing the miracles God has worked in our lives, giving Him thanks and praise. We love you, dear Mother, and will forever be grateful for your love and care.

Your loving children

6. This thanksgiving letter is more than 20 years overdue. Back in 2003, after 10 years of marriage, I prayed the novena every week to have children. God answered our prayers the next year and gave us 2 beautiful siblings to adopt.

My children are now 21 and 23 years old. I give thanks that they are very close to God and love being in church. Life has not been without problems, though, as my son stumbled into a lot of trouble last year and we spent many months agonizing over how to help him resolve it. It became such a huge problem that he very nearly didn’t get to leave Singapore for his overseas studies. Our family went through months of great suffering but it brought us very close as a family, bonding us in a way that could never have happened otherwise. Now, we really understand what it means to say that Jesus gives joy and peace that the world cannot give. We have come to understand that problems do not automatically lead to distress. Instead, problems can still give rise to a lot of peace and serenity in the heart, and we thank God for showing us this treasure.

So, dearest Mother Mary, I thank you for interceding and helping my family through all the lights and shadows of our lives.

7. Dear Mother of Perpetual Help,

We have just heard that my elder son has received an offer of acceptance to study music in NUS. Music has been his passion and dream.  This is only one of my many prayers answered and I cannot Thank You enough for your constant intercession and love.

8. Dearest Mama Mary,

This letter is long overdue. You have been with me through the most difficult years. It was very hard with dyslexia & I thought I would never make it past primary school. But you were there leading me, holding my hands through it all. I want to thank you for assisting me in obtaining a position as an assistant physiotherapist. I’m grateful & appreciate you being by my side during the two interviews and helping me retain all the information I studied. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect this.  I thank God for blessing me with such beautiful people around me to help and guide me. I have no doubt that I will be very happy where I am because of you, Mother. It is thanks to you that I am able to pursue my dream of obtaining a work-study diploma in physiotherapy. Please continue to intercede for me, beloved Mother.
