Thanksgiving – 4 June 2022

1. Dearest Mother of Perpetual Help,

I have been struggling with an addiction to pornography and anxiety issues for the last 2 decades of my life. 3 years ago, I came to you full of shame, guilt and despair. I was lost and desperate to be free of this addiction. Since then, every Saturday morning I would make the hour-long journey to Novena Church to attend the morning devotion. Even during Covid I never stopped attending the online devotion and I’m very thankful to the people who made it possible. I left my job to focus full-time on my recovery, but God always provided for me all through those years. I was blessed with an experienced counsellor from a charitable organisation who was willing to provide me counselling at a very low cost. I was also introduced to an addiction recovery support group, and got to know others who struggled with the same addiction as me – many of whom have become my close friends today. Despite how difficult it was I was never alone in that journey. On 1 May 2022, I marked 2 years clean from pornography and sexual acting out. For a person who is addicted, this is something I never thought would ever be possible. I came to you begging to be free of my addiction, and God gave me so much more. I’ve experienced healing from my past trauma and embraced a new outlook and attitude towards life. I have also completed my certification and been offered a new job where I now use my past experience to help others with the same struggles as me. I believe this is the vocation that God has intended for me. I realise that God is doing for me what I could not do for myself. I am nothing without God, and without God I can do nothing. It is only and truly by my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ and your most powerful intercession that I am celebrating this day. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I love you Mother.

Your Catholic Son.

2. Dear Mother Mary,

2 years ago I prayed for your intercession in my relationship with my partner to be accepted by my family. It brought about quite a bit of tension and disapproval from my family during that time. I cried a lot and kept questioning God’s plan. Now, my family is much more accepting of my partner and they are even starting to get along. It was such a heart-warming sight. I ask you humbly for your continued intercession in this aspect of my life. Thank you so much, dearest Mother.

3. Dear Mother of Perpetual Help,

I want to thank you from my bottom of my heart for blessing me to pass my annual medical check-up as I have some problem with my heart and my ECG result was always abnormal. This time, the cardiologist cleared me fit for work despite my abnormal ECG result. Once again, thank you Mother as I know this could not be possible without your intercession.

Your Catholic Son.

4. Dear Mother Mary,

I just did my week 12 antenatal scan today and prayed to you earlier this week to intercede for good results for the health of my baby. The scans showed that my baby is developing very well and it was surreal seeing the images of the life that is inside of me. I know it is only through the grace and mercy of your Son, Jesus, that he has given me this gift of life after 2 years of trying for a child. Thank you for always interceding and praying for me, for being there for me as a mother. I will never forget all that you have done for me, thank you dear Mother.

Your Grateful Catholic Daughter and Son.

5. Dearest Mother,

The pending law case which involved my wife has been dragging on for a year now. We have been praying that it will finally come to an end. And this week we have finally come to a settlement with the other party. We are deeply grateful that you were there by her side when she had to go through those court procedures and now that all is well. We thank you again our dearest Mother for your prayers and intercession.

Your loving Son.

6. Dearest Mother,

You have always been at my side and interceding for me to your son Jesus at all the major decisions and milestones in my life. Looking back, the last 2 years for me have been the most challenging and confusing period of my life, and I could not have done it without your maternal guidance and support. Mother, I want to thank you for giving me and so many others the hope and assurance we need in our daily struggles, and for always leading me closer to Christ.

Your Child.

7. Dear Mother,

Thank you so much for listening to my prayers and interceding for me. With Your help, I have gotten an offer of acceptance from NUS to do medicine. Without your grace, I do not believe I would have stood a chance. This feels so unreal (I am still praying this is real) and I am extremely relieved. From my initial fear when I received uncertain news from other universities last week, I now can finally have some peace. I promise to do my best with this opportunity. God have given me, and to not forget this same excitement and passion in the future when things get difficult in medical school. Thank You again dear Mother.

Your Child.

8. Dearest Mother,

Thank you for answering my prayers. I wrote to you to ask you to mend the broken marriage of my daughter. Now, both of them have decided to forgive and be reconciled with each other. Truly, my husband and I are so grateful for answering our prayers. Thank you, Mother and Jesus.

Your Ever Grateful Daughter.

9. Dearest Mother,

Last week I asked for your intercession that my mother’s heart operation would go well. With your intercession and our Lord’s Blessing, her operation was a success and she is home now recovering well. It would not have been possible without your intercession and our Lord’s healing power. Thank You Mother.

Your Loving Son.
