Thanksgiving – 21 January 2023

1. Dear Mother of Perpetual Help,

Thank you for bringing me back to your Son, Jesus, and for guiding me despite my distance from the Lord for a couple of years. Thank you for giving me peace and blessing me with wonderful people in my life. Thank you for giving me the courage to take a stand and to take a leap of faith. I wouldn’t have come this far without you, dear Mother.

Your Loving Daughter.

2. Dear Mother,

Thank you for guiding us throughout 2022 in all the difficulties. Thank you for giving us a wonderful family and thank you for giving us opportunities to come closer to your Son, Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Thank you for giving me a permanent job and giving us good health and thank you for all the help you have provided.

Your Loving Son.

3. Dear Mother of Perpetual Help,

Thank you for journeying with us during our trip to Africa. I offered a petition for safety and protection during our entire trip. We landed safely but unfortunately, I lost my bag at the airport with the iPad and other essentials inside the bag. A day before leaving for Singapore, we got back the bag with all the contents inside in it. We are grateful to the Airport police and the taxi company who helped us in getting the lost bag. Mother we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your intercession and protection. Thank you, Mother.

Your Daughter.

4. Dearest Mother,

Though a cradle Catholic, I never enjoyed a good relationship with you dear Mother for many years. There were times I even questioned why the need to intercede to you. Though I brought my children for the Novena in their younger years, I never felt close to you. However, all this changed over the last four to five years. Reading the lives of the saints and reflecting on you has brought me closer to you Mother. Having the devotion to you three years has helped me to spend quiet moments with you in the early hours. Your beauty and gentleness drew me closer to you. I know God chose my house to send you over and I am thankful. Mother dear, thank you for being there for me all the years of my life, even when I stopped praying the rosary. Thank for listening to my petitions and helping me manage my emotions. Mother, please continue to draw my husband and children to come closer to Jesus, as you have helped many to come closer. Love you Mother dear.

Your Catholic Daughter.

5. Thank you, Mother Mary for guiding me through a challenging year when my husband was suffering from stomach issues. The ordeal was stressful as we sailed through a few months of tests and waited for the results—hoping that it was not something serious. Thanks for sending us friends who referred a good doctor at Mt. Alvernia and our ability to pay for the procedures. We closed 2022 with peace of mind. Thank you, Mother.

Your Grateful Daughter.

6. Dear Mama Mary,

Thank you for listening to my pleas and praying for my family and me. This thanksgiving letter is long overdue. In mid-2020, I wrote a petition asking for your intercession for my colleague and myself. We had both suffered miscarriages at the same time and were going through so much grief and pain. I prayed that you would strengthen me and help me to see God’s hand in things even when I could not understand why that had to happen to me. In the third quarter of 2020, I found myself pregnant again. I was filled with trepidation instead of excitement all through those nine months of pregnancy, I constantly asked for your help and grace. To my surprise, my colleague was also pregnant. Truly, I consider this a miracle through prayer. Our estimated delivery dates were just one day apart. My baby was to be born on the feast of Pentecost 2021. Fast forward to May 2021, both my colleague and I welcomed our healthy baby boys into the world. I cannot describe the sense of relief I felt when I held him in my arms for the first time. I remembered praying many Hail Mary’s while waiting in the labor ward. I know it was through those prayers that I could get through the delivery process, and I know that mama Mary, you prayed for the safe delivery of my baby. Through the years, you’ve never wavered in your love for my husband and me. And also extended the love and care to my son and daughter. Thank you, Mother, for your kindness and goodness. Please continue to keep our family under the mantle of your love. We are so blessed to call you, our Mama Mary.

Your Loving Daughter.

7. Dearest Mother,

I thank you for your timely intercession in saving my daughter from a life-threatening situation recently. My daughter delivered a healthy baby boy at the end of November via a caesarian operation. Complications developed days later when her colon failed to expel the wind that was building up in it which resulted in her belly becoming very distended and uncomfortable. Her condition deteriorated to such an extent that an emergency operation had to be performed to save her from the rupturing colon. During the operation the family prayed earnestly trusting that you would be there to protect her. The operation was performed in the nick of time. It’s hard to express how grateful I am to you for helping us through this ordeal. Please continue to help my daughter make a full and speedy recovery so that she can enjoy her motherhood. Thank you, once again dearest Mother.
