Thanksgiving – 2 Nov 2019

  1. Dearest Mother,

I have been coming to the Novena since I was a young girl. Your intercession and the merciful grace of our Lord Jesus have protected me and guided me in every milestone of my life and helped me overcome challenges and anxieties. As of late, since I entered my final year of university, I have been constantly anxious about not having secured a training contract at a law firm for my post-graduation. Despite having good grades and being active in school activities, I have not secured any job offers. I would be called for interviews only. While I was dejected that most of my friends were all getting offers, I knew that my God will not abandon me and that I will get the right firm at the right time. I kept the faith and continued applying. Last week, I received a call asking me to go for an interview. It went on smoothly as Jesus guided me through the process. The next day, I received a call informing me that I had been given the position and to sign the contract the next day. It all happened so fast that I could not believe it. I am confident that God will guide me through every step of the way.

  1. Dear Mother Mary,

There’s so much to be grateful for this week. It’s my father’s 64th birthday and I thank you for all the blessings that he has received. I was confronted with a truth this week – a truth about my health. I am grateful that I am born in this day and age where I have the support and options in receiving treatment. I was alerted to a potential health issue. Today’s devotion was a powerful one for me. As I was fearing that my faith was diminishing given my health scare, a warm sense of comfort and assurance came over me when I sang the hymns. May I never ever to take anything for granted.

  1. Dearest Mother of Perpetual Help,

Words cannot express my feelings of gratefulness for all that you have done for me. Through the years, I have prayed for many favours – for good health, for my family, for peace of mind. Through your intercession, all my prayers are answered. I feel that I am your special daughter whom you love very much.

  1. Dear Mother Mary,

It is after praying the Novena devotion to you twice in a row that I truly believe in your Motherly intercession. I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in May this year and there were 2 smaller lumps on the side of my neck. It was devastating news and I prayed for a miracle to happen to “instantly cure it”. I found myself desperate for a miracle and started the 9 day Novena. On the eighth day, I went for confession asking “why can’t God just heal me? My tears poured out, the priest comforted me and asked me to pray for peace in my heart. I did while attending the evening Mass and I felt a deep sense of peace. Mass was “alive” to me and every word in the readings are so real. Thanks be to God, my surgery is a success and doctors informed me that the cancer cells are all cleared and the results also show that it did not spread to other parts of the body.

Your Daughter.

  1. Dear Mother,

Thank you for your intercession, grace and prayer for my family all this while, especially since my mum was diagnosed with cancer 5 years ago and during the last 6 months. You have constantly interceded for her in those years. She fervently prayed to you and you have constantly assured her, even though times were hard, especially through the chemo sessions. With the Lord’s mercy, she has returned to our Lord peacefully. We miss her dearly but we couldn’t be more grateful knowing you and our Lord Jesus were with her and us every moment through the many kind people we encountered during those difficult periods. Her last days were peaceful and we are thankful she fulfilled her wish shortly before she returned to the Lord. Thank you for instilling in us the strength and peace and opening us towards a deeper compassion for others. I also want to thank you for allowing me to spend the remaining quality time with my family and reflecting deeply within myself.

Your Loving and Grateful Daughter.

  1. Dearest Mother Mary,

I am so sorry for not thanking you earlier. I am now 74 years old. I started going to Novena when I was in Secondary School. After I left school, I stopped attending Novena but I never stopped praying to you. After school, I wanted to be a nun but was asked to leave the novitiate after 3 weeks because of my health but I never stopped praying about my vocation, even after my marriage. Years later, my only son became a priest. He has been ordained a priest for six years now. It has been difficult but you never abandoned me and my family. It is through your intercession and prayers that all my children are doing very well.

Your Loving Daughter.

  1. Dearest Mother,

I want to thank you for your intercession. Three weeks ago, I was very stressed and wrote a letter of petition to you to ask for your kind intercession for a review with my boss. I was very worried that he would close my department down as we had a very bad year. The review went well. My boss was in fact very understanding and encouraged me to do my best and most importantly, my team members and I will be able to keep our jobs. I remembered at one Sunday Mass the homily was about faith in God, and trusting in Him. I did indeed trust Him wholeheartedly and completely. All this would not have been possible without your intercession to your Son and the faith I have in Him.

  1. Dearest Mother of Perpetual Help,

Words cannot express my heartfelt thanks to you for answering my cry for help. I am now 78 years old. 2 years ago, my youngest brother who is 63 years old, returned to Singapore after losing his job abroad where he worked and stayed for 17 years. Since then, he has been alone as his wife had passed on years ago. His two children have abandoned him. He has barely managed to sustain himself with my small help whenever I could. He fell very ill last year and was unable to get a job here. With my daughter’s help, we managed to get him some financial aid through the Social Ministry. Recently we also made an appeal and have successfully leased his 4-room HDB under the Lease Buy Back Scheme, though he is not yet 65 years old. I thank you Mother Mary, for answering my prayers.

  1. Dearest Mother,

A month ago, before I went for my MRI procedure. I have been praying at your shrine for good results for my MRI test. On the appointed date of the test results, my doctor confirmed the good results. I sincerely wish to thank you, Mother of Perpetual Help, for answering my prayer.
