Thanksgiving – 19 November 2022

1. Dear Mother Mary,

I have completed 4 courses of chemotherapy for my lung cancer. Without you, Mother, and Grace from your Son, Jesus, I would not have completed it with minimal side effects. Thank you for looking after me.

Your Grateful Daughter.

2. Dearest Mother,

This is a very backdated letter which should been sent to you long ago. I am lost with words to express my utmost gratitude to you for interceding to your Son, Jesus, and answered all my prayers. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the help you have rendered to me.

Your Catholic Daughter.

3. Dearest Mother Mary, I want to give thanks for your prayers. I was involved in a cycling accident. I was alone and fainted o

n the side of the road. I was told that a lorry driver saw me and called the ambulance. I cannot remember what happened and only remember waking up in the hospital. I suffered a broken collarbone and 3 ribs. I underwent a successful operation and am recuperating at home. Thank you Mother, for giving me comfort and looking after me during this time. I sincerely believe that you were looking out for me so that I did not suffer any more serious injuries.

Your Faithful Son.

4. Dearest Mother,

Thank you for answering my prayer. I lost my daughter. She left the house and our family was broken. We could not take the pain. I turned to you and recited the Rosary daily asking for her to come home. After 2 months, she came home. I thank God and you Mother, for answering my prayers.

Your Loving Son.

5. Dearest Mother Mary,

Thank you for the good news that my sister in-law is pregnant.

Your Dearest Son.

6. Dearest Mother of Perpetual Help,

I recently celebrated my 64th birthday. Thank you for the many blessings you have given me in my life throughout these years especially the gift of good health and a loving husband and children, as well as extended family members and friends who love me.

Your Grateful & Loving Daughter.

7. Dear Mother,

I want to thank you for taking me through my midlife crisis for the past 3 years. Through my darkest moment of doubt and despair, you were my guiding light preserving my hope in your Son’s protection. I now understand that God has let me experience this to increase my faith in Him and to open my eyes to His mercy and appreciate my wife, family and other blessings I have received. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Your Ever-Grateful Catholic Son.

8. Dearest Mother Mary,

This letter is long overdue. I knew Novena Church and it’s Saturday’s devotion since I came to Singapore to work 10 years ago. When I first came here, the name of Novena MRT attracted me as I always prayed the Novena in the past. Out of curiosity, I came to the area and found out that there is a Church. Later, I knew it is a well-known Church for devotion to Mary. Since then, I have always run to you, to speak, cry and ask for your help. The Novena devotion is something that I am waiting for every week. I work and live alone in this country and often life feels so stressful. Only you understand my deepest feeling and situation. I feel at home when I am in the Church – a place that I feel safe and welcome. I was unemployed at the beginning of the year – it was more like a voluntary retrenchment. I am thankful that the company still paid me a good package. It gives me some time to recharge and refocus. What I did not guess was that it is a very difficult and long winding road to find a better job. I sent out a lot of job applications, prepared and attended so many interviews but to no avail and it was so hard to deal with many rejections. I continued to pray daily and finally I received a job offer last week. I felt it’s like a miracle, a job that I have been asking for. I thank you Mother Mary, for all your intercession, mercy and loving kindness. You are always with me.

Your Catholic Daughter.
