Thanksgiving – 10 May 2025

1. Sometime in 2022, I made a decision to leave a job I had held for many years, hopeful that the new role would allow me to make a greater impact. But instead of finding purpose, I walked into one of the darkest chapters of my life. I eventually stepped away, with no job waiting, simply to protect my sanity. What followed was a long, uncertain road. I applied to more than 30 jobs and faced rejection after rejection. My savings dwindled, and fear crept in. In the quiet moments of my desperation, I turned to Mother Mary. I begged her to intercede, to light a path forward when I could see none. Once, in a moment of bitter frustration, I cried out, “why me?”. And in that very instant, the song ‘Let It Be’ began playing on the radio. I didn’t understand it then, but Mary was speaking to me, gently reminding me to trust, to surrender. After 605 long days, not only did I find rest and restoration in the arms of my loved ones, but I also received a job offer with a generous salary. I made a promise to Mary that when the storm passed, I would write this letter- for anyone out there who is struggling. To you, in your hour of darkness, please hold on. When it seems like everything is falling apart, trust that the Lord is already at work, weaving together something beautiful. There’ll be an answer, Let it be.

2. Dearest Mother,

Thank you for asking your Most Holy Son, Our Lord, to grant my plea for my two teenaged daughters to be baptised as Catholics. I was a cradle Catholic, but I turned away from Jesus and His Love when I became an adult and led a sinful life. Some years ago, a dear loved one brought me back to the Novena, and your gentle guidance helped me to see that I needed to repent. This Easter Vigil, my daughters were among more than 30 who underwent adult baptism and received the Holy Eucharist for the very first time at St Joseph’s Church Victoria Street. Truly, Mother, never was it known that anyone who sought Your intercession was left unaided. Thank you my Blessed Mother.

Your loving son.

3. Mother Mary, seeing how much Jesus suffered, you must have suffered too.  As a mother, I am crying as I write this. Yet, because Jesus died, we are saved. He is too magnificent. I want to write a thank you note. We surely don’t deserve it. Look at how messy the world is. Yet, God’s love is so great. Yesterday, my son had another job interview. I thank you and leave him in your good hands. Let him do only God’s will. Mother Mary, please be our Mother every day, let us witness God’s love in our daily lives. Help us, Mother Mary.

4. Dearest Mother Mary,

We come with deeply grateful hearts to give thanks for your most powerful intercession. Just as my husband, daughter and I are concluding our 9th week Novena, God has so graciously answered our prayers and granted my daughter a place to pursue medicine in a local university. After she felt her interviews did not go well, we were disappointed and worried but we placed our trust in you, Mother, that through your intercession Jesus will hear and grant our petition. Thank you, Mother, for your unfailing love and Perpetual Help.

Your grateful Catholic children.

5.Dear Mother Mary,

I would like to give glory and praise to Our Lord Jesus Christ and thank you Blessed Mother for your powerful intercession, as my son was released from Detention Barrack yesterday. It has been a nerve-wrecking and painful experience for our family and it was finally over with your guidance and powerful prayers. Thank you for taking care of my son…Please continue to guide him to be faithful to Jesus and to glorify Him with his actions, words and thoughts. Please continue to guide him to be faithful in his daily prayers. We love you Mother Mary,

Your grateful daughter and son.

6. Thank you, Mother, for always being there for me, and guiding me. Your shrine is a place I can truly call home and come to when I am happy or sad or confused. I don’t have all the answers but I know you will show me the way. I love you Mother.

Your non-Catholic daughter.

7. Dearest Mother of Perpetual Help,

Words cannot express my gratitude for all that you’ve done for my family and me. My daughter who lives in Germany was due to give birth in January. Due to a sudden brain surgery I had to undergo, I couldn’t be there for her pregnancy or delivery. My daughter had faced complications and I was devastated that my trip had to be cancelled. With your intercession, my brain surgery was a success and I was cleared for travel. My daughter and baby were in a dire situation in hospital, and miraculously the airlines allowed me to change my flight for the third time. So, I was able to fly on the same day and be there to see her.

8. Dearest Mother of Perpetual Help,

My husband had a serious car accident a few weeks ago. We are so very grateful and thankful for your kind intercession. God has been very kind and merciful and he is now recovering well. It is truly a miracle. All glory and praise to God and thanks to Mother Mary for your kind intercession.

Your loving Catholic daughter.

9. Dearest Mother Mary,

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting me come for Easter break. Thank you for letting me attend today’s Novena session. I am so beyond grateful for the many blessings you have given me. Please always intercede to the Lord Jesus Christ to guide me and protect me and my family daily. I will pray to you every night mother and thank you for the blessings in my life.

Your loving daughter.

10. Dearest Lord Jesus and Mother Mary,

Thank you for the blessing my 2 brothers and all their friends to have a safe holidays and to bring all of them back safely. With all our grateful thanks.

Your loving children.

11. Dear Mother Mary, Back in Dec 2024, my dad was really ill and in a life threatening condition riddled with multiple issues – a failed kidney, super high blood pressure, blood clots in multiple parts of the body. With your prayers and guidance, he was able to recover and got discharged from the hospital after spending a month there and now he’s making a full recovery. Thank you so much. Please continue to watch over him and may he stay happy and healthy. Your loving and thankful daughter

12. Dearest Mother Mary, Thank you for providing me with solace. Whenever I feel troubled, I would turn to you and I feel that I could always count on you to provide me with the strength and solution. Your faithful daughter.

13. Most loving and caring mother, I am writing this thanksgiving letter as it is long overdue. I have been coming to your devotion for the last 50 years. Thank you, Jesus, for being so gracious to me and my family and hearing our prayer with your divine assistance. May we find peace in your son Jesus and bless us every day of our lives. Your loving daughter.
