Thanksgiving – 10 Aug 2019

1. Dearest Mother Mary,

I am not a Christian but a believer in God of this Church. I am grateful to Lord Jesus and Mother Mary for always helping me and relieving me of my worries. I came to Novena Church in 2014 desperately asking for blessings for my eldest son who was then in his final year of his Masters. During that time, my son was not able to get a positive result for his assignment and was left with 3 days to complete. I came here for 3 days frantically praying for a miracle and I continued to encourage him not to give up till the very last moment as I strongly believed that there will be a miracle happening. Somehow my strong faith and my prayers were answered. This year I came here praying for a miracle for his eczema and 2 days after I have prayed, he came to me smilingly and said that he had a dream. He dreamt of a ray of sunlight shining on the eczema. I smiled with him and instantly, I knew God was healing him and thereafter his eczema was completely healed. I came again during the week of Good Friday asking for a blessing for my second son who was looking for an internship in USA without success. I asked God to help him secure a job before Good Friday without realizing that Good Friday was just 3 days away. After realizing that I was asking God for an impossible task, I came the following day to apologise that I meant it was before Vesak Day. To my astonishment, my son received an offer for an internship in Singapore 4 days after Good Friday. It was a miracle. I thank the Lord Jesus and you, Mother Mary wholeheartedly for all the miracles that have been blessed upon my sons and I.

2. Dearest Mother,

About two months ago, we were at our wit’s end and at a loss as to what we should do. My ex-classmate suggested that my family to visit Novena Church to seek advice, prayer and counselling. We did just that and praise be to God, we have received a breakthrough in our family situation. Thank you, Mother Mary for your prayers, guidance and assistance.

3. Dear Mother Mary,

Thank you for keeping me safe on the road. If not for your intercession, I would have got into many accidents. I thank Jesus for giving us His wonderful Mother to help us in time of our needs.

4. Dearest Mother,

We are at the lowest and darkest moment of our lives right now. Mother, I thank you for keeping my family together and for being strong and supportive of each other’s needs. It is with your endless prayers and love that we are keeping faith and being strong despite the many challenges that we face every day.

5. Dearest Mother of Perpetual Help,

I was so tempted to skip the Novena for the past few weeks. I struggled with indecision every week but thankfully with your grace, I found myself making the weekly trip to your shrine again and again for a session of devotion and prayers with you. I know that without your promptings and grace, I would have already stopped coming to Novena. Thank you, Mother, for your guiding hand.

6. Dearest Mother of Perpetual Help,

I want to give thanks to our Lord Jesus and to you for your intercession in obtaining a miracle in our lives. When I first found out that I was pregnant with our second child, I was diagnosed with H1N1 and the doctor was not certain if our baby would survive as the risk of a miscarriage was high but through your intercession the baby survived. 8 weeks ago, we received a high-risk result for Edwards syndrome and doctors advised us that the baby could have a lot of abnormalities and asked us to consider invasive testing and potentially an abortion. I cried when I heard that and I refused all suggestions. We came to the Novena every Saturday as a family to pray and asked for your intercession. We would accept His will and this baby as a gift to us. This week we just had our 20-week scan and the baby is determined to be normal. We were praying and asking for your intercession even while the scans were being done. Thank you for your intercession, dearest Mother because our Lord has performed this miracle despite the previous test results and we are so blessed and thankful we can raise another child.

7. Dearest Mother,

Thank you for always interceding for my family and me. We had an extended holiday in Australia and it had been a good family bonding. Thank you very much for looking after my family and we had an enjoyable trip.

8. Dearest Mother of Perpetual Help,

I would like to thank you for all the blessings showered on me in the last 3 months as I was searching for a job. It had been a taxing moment for me. I prayed earnestly for your intercession and I got a job offer. I am deeply grateful to you for all the blessings.

9. Dearest Mother Mary,

I am writing this thanksgiving letter to you for being there with me all the years. I have been attending the Novena for more than 40 years. I have come to you for your intercession and you have always answered my prayers.

10. Dearest Mother of Perpetual Help,

I want to thank you for blessing me with a genuine loving person although he mistreats me at times. Thank you for showing what unconditional love is through the sacrifices he makes for me and through accepting my worst and my best. You have truly blessed me with someone I can count on and someone who inspires me to become a better person.
