Thanksgiving – 20 Oct 2018

  1. Dearest Mother Mary,

Words cannot express how grateful I am that you brought my husband back to the family. We have been married for 55 years and he just left me over some embarrassing matters. I prayed endlessly for his return. Mother, it was truly a miracle when he appeared before me at the market. I was shocked when he called my name. He told me he wanted to come back to the family and apologised. He regretted leaving the family. Mother, I knew that it was through your intercession that he returns to the family.

Your Ever-Grateful Catholic Daughter.

  1. Dearest Mother of Perpetual Help,

Four months ago, my cousin’s son was suddenly stricken with a serious illness and was warded in TTSH ICU for a few weeks. He was battling an unknown disease. There were tubes all over his body and his stomach was also operated on and left open due to an infection. It was a terrifying period and I came to your Shrine and asked for your intercession knowing that you will pray for him even though he is not a Catholic. Today, with gladness and a thankful heart, he is back on his feet and back to work. In times of such uncertainty, you always give me strength and hope.

Your Loving Daughter.

  1. Dearest Mother,

This thanksgiving letter comes after many hurdles that you have seen me through over the past 3 years. In October 2015, I found my husband having an affair with my domestic helper and that was 3 days before my eldest son’s O Levels. My world came crashing down, I felt betrayed and angry as I have helped him and his family through financial difficulties for the past 20 years amounting to $500,000. My heart was shattered. All this time, I have been the sole breadwinner of the family. 2016 continued to be a horrible year as I was so bitter that I took it out on my innocent children. I worked till late hours so that I would not be home to face them.

Things turned better in 2017 after I attended the Conversion Experience Retreat. A load was lifted off me and I knew the Holy Spirit gave me the courage to forgive my husband. My second son, then aged 15, fell into a coma without any warning. The doctor told us that it could be a stroke. We recalled a neurosurgeon and he immediately came to our help and diagnosed our son with a nerve and connective tissue problem which does not require any surgery. He recovered thereafter.

In May this year, the same day, I was made redundant at my company. My second son was overdosed due to the extreme anxiety he faced with his medical condition and the upcoming O Levels. I thank God that we managed to rush him to the hospital on time. I was by his bedside in the ICU, CLUTCHING TIGHTLY TO MY ROSARY. I sobbed pleading that I could not handle anymore. But again, Mother, through your intercession, he recovered and is doing much better with the help of his psychiatrist.

All this time, Mother, you have been there with me. Seeing me through every day and watching over my family.

Your Grateful Catholic Daughter.

  1. Dear Mother Mary,

My wife’s birthday falls on the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. My wife has been the pillar of my strength. I thank you for giving me such a wonderful lady to be my wife and the mother of my child.

Your Loving Son.

  1. Dearest Mother,

Every time someone asks me what is the one best thing that has happened to me, without hesitation, I will tell them the best thing that has happened in my life is that I became a Catholic. I attended the Novena Church RCIA almost 20 years back. In fact, I did 2 rounds of RCIA and was only baptised after the second RCIA. I thought I was not going to make it as my dad fell very ill, I know it was through your intercession that I was finally baptised. Through the years, I would come to your shrine. I could not have been who and where I am without your blessing and intercession.

Your Ever-Grateful Daughter.

  1. Dearest Mother of Perpetual Help,

My father was feeling uneasy last weekend and I took him to the hospital. It was through God’s grace that a cardiologist attended to him and scheduled an emergency angioplasty. He is back home now. Words cannot express my gratitude. The doctors diagnosed the situation and took prompt action. I thanked all the nurses and doctors who took good care of my father. Thank you, Mother, for the blessings and for interceding by sending guardian angels to us.

Your Daughter.

  1. Dearest Mother Mary,

7 years ago when I lived in Bangkok, I befriended a beautiful family of refugees. They had fled from their home in Pakistan because they were persecuted for being Catholics. The family consisted of the parents and 3 young boys. They lived in Bangkok for 4 years before they resettled in Holland. Today, I received a message from them that all the boys are attending school and her husband is working. She is volunteering in an old folks’ home. Thank you, dearest Mother, for your intercession, keeping them safe and ensuring that they never lost hope during the difficult years.

Your Grateful Child.

  1. Dearest Mother Mary,

I would like to say a big thank you for helping me through a difficult time in the office. Thank you for seeing me through and guiding me amidst all the demands, stress and challenges. Thank you for giving me a very understanding family who stood by me and gave me support during that period. I know that with your help, nothing is impossible.

Your Catholic Son.

  1. Dearest Mother Mary,

I came to you with a broken heart after a failed relationship. After going to the devotion week after week, I felt the burden was lighter and I began to feel peaceful. Thank you for interceding for me.

Your Daughter.
