Thanksgiving – 14 Sep 2019

  1. Dearest Mother Mary,

Thank you for the immense opportunities and blessings experienced with God’s love and your constant intercession in my life even before I knew God or knew you. I was first introduced to Christianity when I was in pre-school. I first attended a Catholic Church with my mother when I was in primary school at Nativity Church for the Christmas Mass and was captivated by it. Then I went on to a CHIJ Secondary School, where the songs we sang (such as I Thank You Lord, Spirit Wings, Pass It On) resonated with me. I think I was in Secondary 2 when I was first invited to a Christian Church by a school mate, where I accepted Christ. My family and extended family are Buddhists, and I was the only Christian believer for about 17 years. In all my challenges over the span of the last 20+ years, sometimes it seemed like I could not see the future but your Son, Jesus, has always delivered me and with the benefit of hindsight, everything happened in the Lord’s time and for a good reason. The Lord’s providence allowed me to go through my teenage years unscathed despite hanging out with bad company and rebelling against my family. His providence also opened the door to allow me to transfer to my ideal faculty of study in university, which till this day (11 years after I graduated) I still love what I do. Not too long ago, with your intercession, a door least expected for a job opportunity opened and I was finally successful in my application after years of waiting. The Lord also enlightened me and I know I could not have stayed on in a previous relationship with a firm non-believer. Even as I reached what I considered the rock bottom of my life and when I strayed from the Church and started exploring various other religions, all the time God was watching over me, pointing me to various Churches, even as I was considering other possibilities. At the time when I was exploring other religions, I also visited the Novena Church in the evenings to pray and because I heard of the many miracles that you, Mother, had blessed those who asked for help.

One day, a friend told me about the RCIA and I thought why not, since that is the same God I have known for so long, I gave it a shot. I got baptised after the 2nd time I joined the RCIA group, and now serve in a ministry I truly enjoy. Recently, I shared with a friend that it’s somewhat interesting I went to both sites where Mother Mary appeared in Lourdes and Fatima years before I was baptised as a Catholic. She suggested that maybe Mother Mary was calling me even before I knew it. On hindsight, God’s footprints are everywhere in all the challenges I faced and got out of and Mother Mary was also close by even before I knew the role she played in the Catholic faith. Blessed and honoured, I am able to take part in the annual procession to honour Mother Mary. For me, it is particularly meaningful because in all the prayers I have asked Mother Mary to help me all these years, they were always answered at some point. Thank you, Mother Mary, for all the aid and intercessions you never failed to offer me and those around me.

Your Grateful Daughter.

  1. Dearest Mother,

This letter is long overdue. Thank you for blessing me with a ministry that has helped me grow rapidly in faith and to grow closer to you. Prior to that, I was searching for a community for the past 4 years and I kept praying that I could find one that would be best for me to grow in faith and would feel like a family. In November last year, I was invited to join the Legion of Mary and have since become a committed member. Thank you for showering your blessings over me continuously and I am privileged to be in a ministry that looks to you constantly, is like a family to me and allows me to grow in faith and be focused on your Son, Jesus. Please pray for my ministry as we continue to grow and work towards being saints.

Your Catholic Daughter.

  1. Dear Mother Mary,

I came to ask for your intercession few weeks ago when I was going through a tough time. While waiting for my biopsy report, I cried and prayed for your intercession and your beloved Son has heard your prayers for me. My biopsy report came out normal though one of my blood tests was a bit high. I believe that when I repeat the test it will be normal as well. You have showed me that God will never leave us.

Your Child.

  1. Dearest Mother,

Thank you for answering my prayer though it was such a short notice to you. I came to your shrine last Saturday before the Procession begging you to intercede for me to your beloved Son, Jesus. I was issued a summon to attend court in August for an offence. I asked for 4 weeks of adjournment. 2 weeks after my appeal, I logged online and to my dismay my appeal was unsuccessful. I knew my battle was not over as when I was here at the Novena on the Procession Day, I knelt down at your shrine and I could feel myself so calm in your presence. I told myself how I wish I can always feel so calm. So, I called the relevant department and asked if I could re-appeal. On Monday, I received a call to inform me that I only have to pay a small fine. I was overwhelmed and I knew immediately it must have been through your intercession my prayer was answered. While I was talking to the officer, I said “thank you Mother” silently in my heart. I promised you on 1st September to make my experience known especially to those people out there who are in despair so that they would not give up as God will answer our prayer in His time. Mother, please continue to watch over my family and me as we are all completely yours.

  1. Dearest Mother of Perpetual Help,

Our whole family is eternally grateful for prayers answered during my brother’s recent hospitalization for dengue and related complications. He is fully recovered after more than a month. We know my brother’s recovery would not have been so smooth sailing if not for your intercession and our Lord’s mercy. My brother’s condition has improved very much within the day of our coming to the Novena. All praise, honour and glory to Mother Mary and our Lord Jesus Christ for your unending love and mercy.

Your Faithful Daughter.

  1. Dearest Mother of Perpetual Help,

Thank you for letting mummy’s operation to be a success. Thank you for letting the cancer be contained and the doctor was able to remove her entire womb. I also thank you for letting it be in an early stage, hence she need not have to go through chemotherapy.

  1. Dearest Mother,

Your Beloved Son.

  1. Dearest Mother of Perpetual Help,

My echocardiogram stress test results were abnormal and the doctors advised me to do a cardiac CT Scan. I was anxious being the mother of 3 young children. We prayed to you, dear Mother, to intercede for a favourable CT Scan result and for the grace to accept God’s will in our lives. Our prayers were answered and God in His great mercy gave me a favourable result. Thank you, Mother Mary for your intercession.

Your Child in Christ.

  1. Dearest Mother Mary,

My grandson was diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive form of childhood cancer at the end of June. When we realized that the baby was fighting a losing battle as the cancer had spread to his kidney, brain, liver and stomach, we prayed to you, Mother Mary, to ask your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ to deliver him from his suffering and pain. Our merciful and loving Lord took him home to Heaven last Sunday. Our grandson is now at peace and his pain and suffering have ended. He is now safe in the arms of Jesus in Heaven. Praise God for His great mercy, favour and protection over him. Mother Mary, thank you for interceding in our prayers.

Your Grateful Daughter.

  1. Dearest Mother Mary,

This is your prodigal daughter coming back to you. I have strayed and know that through it all my compass leads me back to you. And here, I am repentant and wiser in mind. Mother, I come with humility but steadfast in belief that in your kindness you will bless and help and guide my son as he sits for his important exam at the end of this month. As you bless him and guide him, remember Mother Mary, there are many also sitting for their PSLE.

Your Loving Child.
