Thanksgiving – 13 Jan 2018

  1. Dearest Mother,

Thank you for all the blessings that you gave to us last year. Thank you for guiding my brother and sister-in-law towards their journey of their faith. They are active members of a ministry now. Thank you for good health and peace in our home and in our hearts.

                                                                                              Your Daughter.

  1. Dear Mother of Perpetual Help,

Thank you so much for listening to my prayers during my 6-year stay in Singapore. My life has been a roller coaster of ups and downs. Having had to endure all the trials alone and away from my family was very challenging. I had to resort to prayers and hold on to my faith that my prayers will be heard. From almost losing my job to losing some friends and loved ones, I never gave up. People saw me crying in church, praying and asking for your help. Thank you for another answered prayer and as I embark on my new journey, I will forever be grateful and thankful for all the blessings.

                                                                               Your Catholic Daughter.

  1. Dearest Loving Mother,

Words cannot express my gratefulness for your love and intercession in my marriage and my life. You answered my prayers and even my secret thoughts that I did not dare to pray for. My marriage was going through a difficult time and many times I considered a divorce and you proved me wrong. There is nothing that you and your Son, Jesus Christ, cannot do for me. In my most desperate moments, His words and teachings came to my mind and spoke to my heart. I also thank you for sending angels into my life. I always remember the priest’s words during my confession that, “it is better to be kind than to be right”. His advice kept ringing in my mind every time  I felt hopeless and frustrated. Mother, I am so imperfect but you and your son have loved me with a perfect love. With your love and protection, I managed to find peace and hope in many situations. I am so blessed and grateful that my marriage relationship has improved. My husband is not so against of us going to the church like before. He even joined us for Christmas Eve Mass without any complaints even though we had to stand throughout the Mass.

    Your Ever Grateful Daughter.

  2. Dear Mother of Perpetual Help,

Many thanks for your intercession. It has been a challenging time towards the second half of 2017. But everything went well through your intercession. Thank you for the sale of our house though it took awhile. Everything happened in God’s time. My daughter did not do well all through her secondary school days, struggling emotionally and academically. Last year, she needed to retake an examination in order to get promoted. Thank you, Mother Mary, it is a miracle the school promoted her despite her poor grades. Thank you for everything.

                                                                               Your Beloved Daughter.

  1. Dear Mother Mary,

I am finally writing this long-delayed thanksgiving letter. 2017 was a painful year for me, I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. My left knee was swollen, stiff and painful. I cried to you and your Son for healing. Through your prayers and intercession, I am able to walk with no pain and there is no swelling. I believe in Psalm 23 – even if I walk through the valley of darkness, no evil will I fear as your beloved Son will be there to help and guide me.

                                                                                  Your Loving Daughter.

  1. Dearest Mother,

This thanksgiving letter has come really late. I always find so much love and consolation simply by spending time alone with you at your shrine. You have continually supported and guided me through your intercession and prayers. 2017 has not been a good year but it was definitely much better than 2016 when I lost 3 family members and 2 good friends to illnesses. No matter how heartbreaking, how difficult the challenges were,  you were always there to hold me when I “fell to pieces”.

                                                                                       Your Faithful Child.

  1. Dearest Mother of Perpetual Help,

I am writing this letter to show my appreciation for the many blessings showered upon my family and my son who has just completed his A Levels. My son was chosen to be in the Commando Unit and he also got a reserved seat to do an Engineering Degree in the University. All these blessings are not possible without your constant intercession and prayers.

                                                                          Your Ever Loving Daughter.

  1. Dearest Mother,

Thank you for interceding for me. About two weeks ago, I cried to you for help to restore my health. The unfavourable medical report was totally unexpected. I was really scared. I prayed for your intercession as I went for my follow-up tests and was feeling helpless and desperate. You have once again shown that you are always my Mother and you will never leave anyone who turns to you unaided. My follow-up tests turned out well and I was told that all is well. I know this would not have been possible without your intercession and Jesus blessings.

                                                                               Your Catholic Daughter.

  1. Dearest Mother Mary,

We would like to offer our sincere and grateful thanks to Jesus and you, Mother Mary, for answering our prayers for all the blessing of our son’s wedding. Everything turned out even better than what we had expected. His church wedding was a very memorable occasion for our family as all our siblings came to witness the event. On the day of the food tasting at the restaurant, we were disappointed as the food was not that great. Another couple from the next table also told us that they too were disappointed with the food. We recalled the story about the wedding in Cana where Jesus performed a miracle when Mother Mary interceded for the wedding couple. So we sought your help for us to do the same. Indeed, our prayers were answered. We received good feedback from our guests that the food served that night was good which took us a surprise. Once again, we wish to thank Jesus and you, Mother Mary for everything.

                                                                   Your Loving Catholic Children.

  1. Dearest Mother,

As the year 2017 comes to a close, I would like to thank you Mother, for your kind intercession and the countless blessings that I have received throughout the year from our Lord, Jesus Christ. I was due for retirement at the end of 2017, as I reached the mandatory retirement age in the organisation that I worked. However, the company took into consideration my performance and good health in 2017 and extended my contract for another year to 2018. Despite the fact that I am now 67 years old, the company also retained my position with the same remuneration. Recently, my daughter met with a major accident with a drunk driver which resulted in her car has to be scrapped. Her pet dog has flung out of the car about 50 metres away from the site. It is a miracle that she, her husband and her dog survived even though my daughter had to undergo a left shoulder operation, to mend the torn tendon in her upper arm due to the backlash she sustained during the accident. I am blessed to have a good relationship with my children, siblings, friends and their spouses. We are a bonded family, gathering together for family meals and prayers in our homes.

                                                                                  Your Loving Daughter.

  1. Dearest Mother Mary,

I returned to Novena on 30th September after the new church re-opened. It was such an emotional homecoming because despite having abandoned you for so many years, you have been loving me, watching over me and guiding me. You welcomed me back with opened arms that I felt like the “Prodigal Son”. I was really overwhelmed by all the memories I had over the years in Novena. When the hymn “Mary from thy sacred image” began, tears flowed uncontrollably. I have been coming to the Novena ever since I was a toddler and those were the lyrics I could not even sing properly at that time. So I made up random words to sing along and my parents and uncle used to tease me relentlessly about my version.  Then, when the Benediction began, I was just overcome with sobs.

The new church is so incredibly beautiful but it is the spirituality of the place that has always drawn me and still does. They did a wonderful job, keeping parts of the old church that holds my memories from the grilles to the mosaic tiles. I also love the Redemptorists, they are so grounded and focus on welcoming everyone regardless of faith or religion, emphasizing your love and having Novena as a shrine for all to come to find peace and comfort. I have sought solace at your shrine so many times, begging for your intercession. I know that over the years so many of my prayers have been answered because you have interceded for me to your Son, Jesus.

I am writing his long overdue letter because words alone cannot describe what I experienced when I returned to your shrine. It was a day of joy and reconciliation but also a day I experienced your unconditional love. A love that is pure and kind, non-judgmental and forgiving despite how unfaithful I had been.

                                                       Your Ever Grateful Catholic Daughter.
